Thiruvananthapuram: According to police data, crime against women and children in the state are on the rise. The number of cases registered in both categories in 2022 has reportedly been the highest recorded within the last seven years.
As per State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) data, a total of 18,943 and 5,315 cases were registered in connection with crime against women and children respectively in 2022.

A total of 4,586 POCSO cases were also registered in the state last year. Apparently, there was a drop in the number of cases only during the pandemic.
