Guruvayur: One of the oldest elephants in Anakotta, Mukundan, has been ill for a while now. His condition worsened in the last two days so much that he couldn’t even stand on his own. A crane had to be brought in to lift the 60-year-old tusker up.
Deputy Administrator, K.S Mayadevi said that arrangements are being made to make the tusker more comfortable. A special treatment regimen combining Ayurveda and Allopathy has also been prepared. Anakotta doctors are on stand-by in the vicinity to take care of Mukundan.
Mukundan has not gone out of Anakotta for over 20 years now because of an ailment on his rear left leg. Since Mukundan cannot straighten his leg, he walks by dragging it along.
