Thiruvananthapuram: CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai said that appointing in a parliamentary post is not the sole way of acknowledging party workers and such thoughts indicates the degradation of party ideology.

Ramachandran Pillai made it clear in a note explaining the politics in fielding new faces in election and appointing them in cabinet. He quoted Chandigarh Party Congress report while explaining the matter.

The greed for parliamentary posts is seen in many states where the party has different level of acceptance. When the same person continues in a post, it will adversely affect the efforts to develop unity in the party. That is why a validity period is fixed for all party posts from branch secretary to general secretary, he explained.

The issue on exclusion of KK Shailaja from the cabinet was discussed in the note without mentioning her name. Ramachandran Pillai stated that if efficiency was the criterion, a total of 11 ministers and 26 MLAs should have been given relaxations.

Even LDF supporters believed the media campaign that women are neglected in the cabinet formation. However, this was proved wrong as three women were inducted in the cabinet.

Some people thought that excluding two-time MLAs will result in a debacle. But the results proved that the party is never short of popular leaders, he added.
