Pathanamthitta: CPM District Secretary Raju Abraham met senior CPM leader M. Padmakumar from Pathanamthitta, who had expressed his dissatisfaction over the inclusion of Veena George into the CPM State Committee as a special invitee.

The meeting took place at Padmakumar's residence on Monday afternoon. After the meeting, Raju Abraham informed reporters that the issues raised by Padmakumar are organisational matters that need to be addressed. He stated that these issues would be reviewed soon in the presence of the state leadership.

“The issues raised by Padmakumar are organisational in nature. They will be examined shortly with the state leadership, and decisions regarding them will be communicated. This is an organisational issue, and only the party can discuss and make decisions on it. He has removed the Facebook post and has expressed his opinions personally as well. All these matters should be discussed within party forums. He can attend the district committee meeting, and we expect that he will participate. If he wishes, he can request leave. All options are available,” Raju Abraham said after the meeting.

“State committee members are chosen based on their performance, not on a regional basis. Pathanamthitta, being a district with fewer memberships, cannot expect many state committee members from there. Wayanad is an example of this. I do not believe Padmakumar has created any provocation. He has merely expressed his opinion. Padmakumar is a person who has proven his credentials as an MLA in the past. He has also worked sincerely as the president of the Devaswom Board. He is a highly capable person, and someone like him should remain in the party,” Raju Abraham added.

“Those who work in parliamentary affairs, especially ministers, should be included in the committee that takes policy decisions. That is why they are being included in the committees as special invitees. For example, C. Ravindranath was not a member of the State Committee when he was a minister. He was invited to the committee to share his views. The committee that formulates policies in Kerala is the State Committee. Veena George has been assigned responsibilities in the parliamentary sector, but she has not been given any specific organisational duties. All these matters will be reviewed, and the responsible bodies will address them,” Raju Abraham concluded.
