Thiruvananthapuram: CPM will crack the whip at LDF convener E P Jayarajan in connection with his secret meetings with BJP leader Prakash Javadekar. It is said that the CPM  leadership will initiate stringent disciplinary action against the central committee member once the general election is over.

When the controversy had erupted, the central leadership immediately sought the details regarding the situation from the state leadership. On Monday, tongues were lashed at EP Jayarajan for putting the party on the defensive at a crucial time, during the secretariat meeting. Though it was decided to end the controversy for now by not denouncing EP in public, the secretariat has taken the view that there was serious lapse from the part of EP while handling the situation.

According to party sources, a suspension from the central committee or even from the primary membership of the party  cannot be ruled out. Considering the intensity of the discussions held in the State secretariat meeting, the State committee too will take up the issue for a detailed discussion. Though the secretariat has not discussed the possibility of removing EP from the post of LDF convener, it is said that the stand taken by CPI in connection with this issue cannot be ignored easily.

Secretariat has advised E P to deal with the allegations which had embarrassed the party legally and to end the friendship with people like ‘dallal’ Nandakumar. Party feels that if they could deal with the allegations of Sobha Surendran and Nandakumar legally, they could defend the controversy before the party rank and file to a great extent, The party also feels that more allegations would come following the controversy in the coming days. It is to put curbs on such allegations that CPM has advised EP to move court against the allegations of Sobha and Nandakumar.

The State leadership would give an explanation regarding the controversy to the central leadership based on the criticism and analysis taken place during the secretariat meeting held on Monday. The issue will be discussed in the politburo meeting as well. Following this, the party will initiate action against EP in the central committee meeting which will be held after the general elections.

During the meeting on Monday, EP had said that Javadekar came to the house of his son unannounced and they didn’t discuss politics either. He also had said that there was a conspiracy against him to destroy him politically. He said that, he was forced to talk before the media on the day of the election as the media had continued to discuss the issue and dragged the name of CM into the controversy.

Though he tried hard to justify his actions, it is reported that the secretariat had dismissed those arguments and severely criticised him by saying that his connection with ‘dallal’ Nandakumar has been causing continuous embarrassment to the party. For this, EP had said that Nandakumar was trying to trap him and he had cut his ties with Nandakumar long ago.

Considering his explanation that he had not seen Javadekar in any place other than his son’s apartment, secretariat has decided to end the controversy and asked him to initiate legal actions in connection with the allegations .
