Perunad (Pathanamthitta): The CPM branch committee office which was functioning in a rented building was forcefully evicted and BJP’s office was opened in the same.
The building is owned by a close relative of BJP leader Arun Anirudhan, a member of Perunad panchayat, who was injured in the CPM-BJP clash the other day.
The flex boards and other materials of CPM kept in the building was thrown out and the flag of BJP was hoisted there converting the building to party booth committee office. Though CPM leaders had told the owner they will evacuate the building, their things had not been not removed.
Arun was injured in the clash that took place on Sunday. 10 CPM members including panchayat president PS Mohanan had taken bail in connection with the incident.
CPM local committee secretary Robin K Thomas stated that the building owner asked them to vacate as pressured by Arun. BJP deliberately wanted to create issue and so they threw out the boards and flexes.
Meanwhile, Arun said that his relative asked CPM to vacate the building after they attacked him. CPM didn’t remove their things even after vacating and so we had to do it, he added.
