Pathanamthitta: A violent clash broke out between CPM and BJP workers at a wayside eatery in Thengamam near Adoor. The altercation, allegedly fueled by alcohol consumption, resulted in damage to property at the eatery. Police have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the incident.

According to reports, the brawl stemmed from an earlier altercation between the two groups. Initially, a verbal dispute occurred on the road, which later escalated when BJP workers Abhiraj and Vishnuraj entered the eatery. Shortly after, a group of CPM workers followed them inside, leading to a full-scale confrontation.

The chaos continued for several minutes, with both sides using the property inside the eatery as weapons. The establishment suffered damage, with 10 trays of eggs, two cans of cooking oil, and several bunches of bananas reportedly destroyed in the scuffle. Local residents and shopkeepers intervened to bring the situation under control before it escalated further.

Following the incident, the police launched an investigation and arrested Abhiraj and Vishnuraj for their involvement. Authorities are also gathering statements from eye-witnesses to pursue further legal action.

The eatery, owned by a resident of Shenkottai, Tamil Nadu, had only started operations on January 20.
