Kollam: The CPM district conference in Kollam saw sharp criticism directed at central committee member EP Jayarajan and MLA M Mukesh. Questions were also raised about the decision to field Mukesh as a party candidate during assembly polls despite the LDF government having the Hema Committee report in its possession.
The party leaders accused EP Jayarajan of behaviour unbecoming of a communist and blamed his controversial statements on election day for adversely affecting the party's prospects. Members from seven area committees voiced their discontent, highlighting that the revelations about Jayarajan's meeting with BJP leader Prakash Javadekar during the Lok Sabha elections had harmed the party’s reputation and electoral chances.
The delegates from the Chadayamangalam area committee criticized Mukesh's approach during the campaign, alleging a lack of effort and engagement as a candidate. Senior leader AK Balan also came under fire, with criticism focusing on his handling of the Palakkad by-election.
More criticism against leaders, including EP Jayarajan, is expected to emerge in upcoming area and district conferences as party cadres express their discontent.
