Pathanamthitta: In a shocking incident, a COVID positive girl was sexually assaulted by an ambulance driver. The incident took place on Sunday early morning by 1 am. Kayamkulam native Noufal, driver of 108 ambulance, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The 20-year-old girl was assaulted sexually while being taken from Pathanamthitta to the COVID care centre in Kozhencherry. There were two young women in the ambulance. The health department officials had directed the driver to take one of them to Kozhencherry district hospital.

Following this, the driver dropped the woman at the hospital and took the other girl to COVID care centre. On the way to the centre, he molested the girl in the ambulance near the Aranmula airport project site. The girl informed the police soon on reaching the COVID centre and the police recorded her statement the same night.

Based on the statement, the police arrested the ambulance driver. Noufal is also an accused in a murder case. He has been actively taking part in the COVID resistance activities. The police is investigating into his criminal background. The girl will be subjected to medical test on Sunday.

As the girl is COVID positive, she is admitted in a special room at the COVID care centre. Further actions will follow soon. Noufal also is lodged in a special room in a police station at Pathanamthitta. He has to be quarantined.
