Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant development, the Nedumangad SC/ST Special Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of dancer Sathyabhama in the caste abuse case involving dancer RLV Ramakrishnan. However, the court ordered bail to Sumesh, the owner of the YouTube channel that aired Sathyabhama's interview and the second accused in the case.

Sathyabhama's defense centered around denying allegations of caste abuse. Nevertheless, special prosecutor T Geenakumari, representing the government, argued that it is punishable to abuse an individual in the name of caste with prior knowledge of their belonging to a Scheduled Tribe. Geenakumari pointed out that Sathyabhama had previously faced legal action in another complaint filed by RLV Ramakrishnan, indicating prior knowledge of his Caste status. The prosecutor further contended that Sathyabhama had made derogatory remarks about Ramakrishnan on the YouTube channel, using adjectives that were clearly understood by the public. Considering these arguments, the court dismissed Sathyabhama's anticipatory bail application.

Advocate C K Radhakrishnan also appeared in court on behalf of RLV Ramakrishnan. Further decisions regarding punishment will be determined as the court proceedings progress. However, Sathyabhama has the option to approach the High Court for anticipatory bail.
