AICC spokesperson Shama Mohamed slams Congress leadership over poor female representation in Kerala election lists, seeking Rahul Gandhi's immediate intervention.

Thiruvananthapuram – AICC spokesperson Shama Mohamed has publicly voiced her dissatisfaction with the Congress party's candidate list for the upcoming Assembly elections. Expressing her grievances via her X account on Friday, she called upon Rahul Gandhi to step in and protect the interests of women within the Kerala unit of the party.
Mohamed pointed out a major gender imbalance in the party's allocations, noting that out of the 92 seats being contested by Congress in the Assembly elections, only nine have been allotted to women. Furthermore, she highlighted that only one woman was considered for the Lok Sabha. She added that while there are many capable women within the party, their current situation remains dismal.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi directly in her post over the lack of deserving representation for women, she said they were not defeated but denied a chance to contest.
There had been widespread speculation that Shama Mohamed would be fielded as the candidate for the Kannur constituency. However, when the official list was released, T O Mohanan was named as the candidate for the seat, prompting her sharp reaction.
