Kannur: Congress leader and Kannur DCC secretary C Raghunath on Thursday decided to quit the party. Raghunath reportedly tendered his resignation before KPCC around 2 pm. He has cited neglect from the Congress party as the rationale behind his decision.
Interestingly, he was the UDF candidate fielded against CPM’s Chief Minister candidate Pinarayi Vijayan at Dharmadom during the 2021 state assembly elections. He was also known as a person who had close ties with KPCC chief K Sudhakaran.
While interacting with Mathrubhumi.com over the development, Raghunath said that “those who made tall claims against groupism created four to five groups”. Raghunath added that he started his KSU activism at Brennen College way back in 1973, along with Sudhakaran.
Meanwhile, his Facebook post noted that he will remain active in the politics of Kannur district.
