Kozhikode: K Vidya, accused in the document forgery case, reportedly stayed at the house of a former student at Maharaja's College.
Vidya was taken into custody in a very swift operation, even without the knowledge of the local police. According to police, she was taken into custody while moving from one place to another. She was nabbed from Avala-Kuttoth in Cheruvannur grama panchayat on Wednesday night by the Agali Police. The area is a CPM stronghold.
Meanwhile, local CPM representatives have denied that Vidya was sheltering in the houses of party sympathisers. However, the Youth Congress alleged that CPM knew Vidya's whereabouts.
Prior to arriving in Cheruvannur, she reportedly had stayed at a house in Vadakara and three other locations. Kozhikode DCC president alleged that Vidya remained in hiding with the help of police and CPM. He added that those who aided her should be brought to justice.
Leader of the opposition in the Kerala Assembly, VD Satheesan, has also alleged involvement of CPM and the police in "delaying" the arrest.
Vidya was associated with SFI during her college days.
