Kozhikode: Police said that a mafia group. including CISF Assistant Commander and a customs officer. are involved in gold smuggling operations in Karipur. The police also found that the group have smuggled gold through Karipur 60 times. 

CISF Asst. Commander Naveen is the mastermind behind the crime, police said. Last week, the police seized the smuggled gold outside the airport after bypassing customs thrice in a day.

Police seized gold worth Rs 63 lakh. They found the customs duty chart from the accused who were taken into police custody that day. During subsequent investigation, it was found that Naveen coordinated the gold smuggling operation.
