Thrissur: Thrissur District Collector Arjun Pandian has withdrawn the earlier order that had stopped toll collection at the Paliyekkara plaza.

On April 16, the collector had issued an order suspending toll collection, citing severe traffic congestion caused by the ongoing construction of an underpass on the national highway. He had stated that toll collection should not continue until the congestion was resolved.

Temporary relief, then further action

Following the initial order, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) requested a week’s time to ease the traffic situation. However, as the congestion remained, the collector issued another suspension order last night.

Toll allowed again with traffic assurance

The latest decision to permit toll collection again was based on an assurance from authorities that proper traffic regulation measures would be implemented in the construction zone.
