Kochi: In the wake of escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, international air travel from Kerala has been severely disrupted. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), along with authorities at Thiruvananthapuram, Karipur and Kannur airports, have issued advisories alerting passengers about widespread delays, cancellations, and possible rerouting of flights to and from Gulf destinations.

Airspace safety concerns, stemming from Iranian missile strikes on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, have led to major disruptions across key international air routes.

CIAL Airport (Kochi)

Cochin International Airport has confirmed delays and cancellations of several international flights. CIAL has urged passengers to contact airlines directly and monitor SMS and email alerts for real-time updates.

The affected flights, as confirmed by CIAL, include:

A1953 (Cochin – Doha), SG018 (Cochin – Dubai), 6E1403 (Cochin – Abu Dhabi), 6E1493 (Cochin – Ras Al Khaimah), 6E1271 (Cochin – Muscat), 6E1272 (Muscat – Cochin), 6E1206/055 (Bahrain – Cochin – Dammam), SG017 (Dubai – Cochin), 6E1404 (Abu Dhabi – Cochin), A1933 (Cochin – Dubai), A1934 (Dubai – Cochin), IX494 (Kuwait – Cochin), IX441 (Cochin – Muscat), IX476 (Doha – Cochin), IX475 (Cochin – Doha), IX442 (Muscat – Cochin), IX461 (Cochin – Kuwait).

 

Thiruvananthapuram Airport

Airport authorities in Thiruvananthapuram have confirmed limited disruptions, with two flights cancelled and the remaining expected to operate on time as of the latest updates. Flights cancelled are:

J9411/412 – Jazeera Airways (Kuwait to Thiruvananthapuram)

063 – Gulf Air (Thiruvananthapuram to Bahrain)

Karipur Airport (Calicut)

Karipur Airport has witnessed widespread cancellations, particularly for Air India Express services to the Gulf region. Both Indian and foreign airline services are affected, with several flights delayed or cancelled indefinitely.

A total of nine Air India Express flights from Karipur scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have been cancelled, with airport authorities confirming that all Air India departures to Gulf countries have been suspended.

Kannur Airport

Kannur International Airport has also experienced heavy disruptions, with more than a dozen Air India Express and Indigo flights cancelled over Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
