Thiruvananthapuram: Mathew Kuzhalnadan on Monday lashed out against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the issue of the black sand mining case once again. He alleged that the chief minister intervened on behalf of the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) company and gave black sand at a low price to make a huge profit.

“Black sand worth Rs 40,000 crore was mined. The state incurred a huge loss of revenue through this. Neither the government nor the party responded to these allegations. The minister of industries responded in a single sentence. The Chief Minister is behind all this. He should be ready to take responsibility instead of allowing his daughter to be torn apart in public. If Veena Vijayan is the one responsible, this should also be admitted publicly,” Kuzhalnadan said.

“It was Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who received Rs 100 crore. The Interim settlement board report states that the lion's share of the total Rs 135 crore was bequeathed to ‘PV’, that is Pinarayi Vijayan,” he said.

Kuzhalnadan repeated that he is ready to openly hold discussions about the allegations raised against him and asked whether M.B Rajesh and P Rajeev are ready to do the same. He alleged that a coup had taken place in the purchase of 60 acres by CMRL and that the Chief Minister intervened in the same to relax the land limit rule of the revenue department.

Kuzhalnadan was speaking at a press conference in continuation of his allegations that the government gave permission to the CMRL company to mine back sand in Thottappally, Alappuzha. According to him, Vijyan allegedly intervened and diluted the mining policy to favour CMRL and the latter paid Rs 1.72 crore to Veena as a reward.
