Thiruvananthapuram: Police have recommended to increase the security cover near the chief minister’s official residence Cliff House after the safety and precaution at the Secretariat was beefed up following widespread protests. The police plan to up the security taking into account recent incident of protesters trespassing into the Cliff House and holding protests here the other day. Police conducted a meeting to oversee the security after receiving intelligence reports and recommended it to the government.
Major Recommendations
- The compound wall of Cliff House must be raised. This is aimed to prevent protesters from crossing the fence
- Iron railing over the wall must be installed and arrangements must be made to block the view of the Cliff House. This is to obstruct the view of the place when someone stands on the premises. The trees surrounding the place must also be cut down. Lights must be installed around the compound wall.
- Shift the main entrance of the CM’s residence
- Block the bylanes from YMR Junction leading to the Cliff House
- A reception facility to collect details of visitors should be set up
- Park the vehicles leading to the Cliff House at a certain distance and put up barricades
- Install a security camera near the immediate junction of the Cliff House
