Thiruvananthapuram: It seems that even a thumping defeat in the elections has not changed the aggressive posture of Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan as he came down heavily against the comments of Geevarghese Mar Coorilose, former Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church. While reacting to the comments made by the priest through his FaceBook post in connection with the setback suffered by the LDF in the state, CM said that the words of Geevarghese Mar Coorilose indicate that there might be idiots among the priests too.
It was during the presentation of the progress report of the state government for the year 2023-24 at Thiruvananthapuram that CM unleashed an attack against the priest. “I have heard that, the priest had said that it was the flood which helped the LDF to win the assembly election for a second time. He also had reportedly said that, one should not think that one more flood would come. This clearly shows that there would be idiots among the priests too”, said Pinarayi.
In his FB post, Geevarghese Mar Coorilose had said that the main reason behind the humiliating defeat suffered by the LDF was anti-incumbency. If the LDF would not be able to learn from the continuous shock treatment given by the people, they too would face the same fate of the left in Bengal and Tripura. It was against these comments that Pinarayi Vijayan responded rather harshly.
“It is a fact that there were some difficulties regarding the distribution of DA of the government employees. They would not have to face such difficulties every year. A decision regarding this would be taken very soon. Apart from this, there were aso some difficulties regarding the DR of the pensioners. The government hopes that, the problem in connection with this too would be resolved soon and the situation would become a bit more conducive”, Pinarayi said.
