Kannur: A police case will be filed against P P Divya, president of the Kannur District Panchayat and a leader of the CPM, following the death of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu. He was found hanging at his residence in Pallikkunnu on Tuesday. A case will be registered against Divya for abetment of suicide.

Naveen Babu was found dead a day after Divya raised corruption charges against him. The day before his death, a farewell event for him in Kannur took a surprising turn when Divya criticized his actions. During her speech, she made serious allegations about corruption against him during his farewell related to transfer.

Divya emphasised the importance of integrity and advised that he should avoid engaging in similar activities at his new position. This dramatic incident occurred in front of the Collector, who was also at the farewell meeting. Divya accused Naveen of trying to influence the approval process for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a petrol station. She claimed to have detailed information about this and stated she would disclose it if needed.

The investigation team is expected to present its findings in the court today.

Meanwhile, thousands paid respects to Babu as his mortal remains were kept for public homage at the district collectorate in Pathanamthitta on Thursday. Ministers Veena Vijayan and K. Rajan were among those who visited the place to pay their last respects. The body was later taken for funeral proceedings at his residence in Pathanamthitta.
