Karukachal: A case has been filed against MLA PV Anvar for allegedly tapping the phones of police officers. The complaint claims that Anvar’s actions were intended to jeopardise public safety and incite unrest by spreading misinformation through visual media.
The case was registered by Karukachal police following a complaint from Thomas Peeliyanickal, a resident of Nedumkunnam in Kottayam.

Thomas had initially submitted a complaint to the State Police Chief and later gave his statement at the Karukachal police station.
According to the complaint, Anvar’s alleged phone tapping aimed to create sectarian divisions within the community. It also raised concerns about privacy violations and threats to national security.
In response to the seriousness of the allegations, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan earlier stated that phone-tapping without legal authorisation is a grave offence. He also requested clarification from the state government regarding the claims and has inquired whether an investigation is underway and what actions have been taken.
Meanwhile, a defiant PV Anvar, furious over MV Govindan’s statement that the party has cut all ties with him, continues his tirade against the ruling CPM, claiming that the “ship is going to sink, taking everyone along with it.” Speaking to reporters on Friday, Anvar stated that he has not made any remarks to weaken the party but will continue to speak the truth on behalf of party workers.
“I won’t leave just because they kick me out. No, I won’t stop. I will speak in all the 16 assembly constituencies in the district. Now, I will burn like a torch. I am not scared of anyone. Earlier, I had limits. But now I am free. The ship is going to sink and will take everybody along with it,” Anvar declared.
