Kattappana: A case has been registered against a cartoonist for posting cartoon of a lady traffic SI on Facebook, accusing her of levying fines on vehicles unnecessarily. The case was registered against cartoonist Sajidas Mohan by the Kattappana police. In addition to this a case was registered against persons who had posted derogatory comments under the cartoon. The cases were registered on the grounds of defamation in cyber spaces and for insulting womanhood.

Sajidas had posted the cartoon four days ago and had captioned the image saying that the lady SI had captured the photograph of his vehicle stuck in the traffic block. He also warned of protesting in front of the station, in case he was fined. The police have sought the help of cyber cell for gathering information on those who made lewd remarks on the cartoon.

Earlier, a group of traders in the city had also come out, accusing the traffic officer of levying unnecessary fines. Meanwhile, the lady traffic SI responded to the allegations saying she had only registered against those who had parked their vehicles inappropriately on the roads and dismissed all the other allegations calling them farce.
