Erumely: A total of 25 people were booked for staging a protest over a wild bison attack that killed two elderly persons at Kanamala in Kottayam last May.

A case has been filed against the protesters, including Pampa Valley ward member Mariyamma Sunny, Angel Valley ward member Mathew Joseph Manjappallikkunnel, and Thumarampara ward member Prakash Pallikkoodam, for blocking the road. 

They are booked under IPC Sections 143, 147, 283 and 149. Summons have been issued to 16 out of the total people.

They are directed to appear before the Kanjirappally Judicial First Class Magistrate on Friday. However, they have decided to move the court seeking time to find money to pay the fine.

Kanamala natives Chacko (65) and Thomas (60) were killed by the same bison as per the locals. A group of angry natives staged a protest against the forest officials besides blocking the road in the area.
