Vadakkencherry: A car following a shortcut suggested by Google Maps overturned and plunged into a canal near Poongode on Tuesday morning.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The vehicle, carrying a family from Wayanad to Alappuzha, overturned while navigating the sharp turn at the Poongode curve.

Using a crane, local residents lifted the car from the canal. The drivers from Malappuram often avoid the Kunnamkulam road and instead opt for the Varavoor route. However, the Kunnamkulam-Varavoor road is notorious for frequent accidents due to its sharp curves and challenging turns.
