Pilathara (Kannur): A car was found abandoned under suspicious circumstances in a vacant plot near Pilathara Co-operative College. Bloodstains, apparently from heavy bleeding, were found inside the vehicle, while clothes and other belongings, including women's and children's garments, were scattered around. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

The grey-coloured car, bearing registration number KL-58 AN-2059, was found abandoned in the area. Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle had arrived from the Perinthalmanna region.

Initial inspection shows that the car's seats, dashboard components, and floor mats had either been removed or extensively damaged and searched. Bags, clothes, children's garments, and covers that were inside the vehicle were found strewn around. The bonnet and doors were also left open.

Robbery Angle Under Probe

Police suspect that the occupants of the car were gold traders from Maharashtra. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been intercepted and attacked in an attempt to steal gold or cash hidden in secret compartments inside the car. The fact that even concealed sections of the vehicle appear to have been broken open suggests a carefully planned robbery.

Local residents on a morning walk noticed the vehicle in the vacant plot on Tuesday morning and immediately alerted Pariyaram police. Officers arrived at the scene, conducted preliminary inspections, and started investigation. At present, there is no clarity on what happened to the people who were travelling in the car.

Investigation Focuses on Hawala and Robbery Gangs

Police are also examining the possible involvement of interstate robbery networks. Similar clashes involving gold-smuggling and hawala-linked gangs had been reported in the Pilathara area a few months ago. Given the bloodstains found in the vehicle, investigators suspect that a serious violent incident may have occurred. Police are expanding the probe by examining CCTV footage from nearby locations and exploring all possible leads.
