Thiruvananthapuram: Two of the bullets recovered from Kulathupuzha in Kollam were made in China. 7.6x39 mm bullets are suitable for AK-47 rifles.

Out of the 14 bullets found, 12 are made in Pakistan and has inscription POF which stands for Pakistan Ordinance Factories. These bullets 7.62x51 mm are usually used in SLR rifles. These are believed to be made in 1981-82.

On these China-made bullets, it is inscribed 611 (a code). These are believed to be made in 1972. It is assumed that these were made in a private arms and ammunition manufacturing centre in China.

The 14 bullets were found abandoned in a paper package, sealed with grease and wax. The paper was a page from a Malayalam daily dated January 28, police said.

Police believe these abandoned bullets belong to BSF officials working in Kashmir and Nagaland regions.

Meanwhile, DGP Loknath Behera said that the incident has been reported to central agencies and an order regarding handing over the case to anti-terrorist squad will soon be issued.
