Aluva, Ernakulam: The body of a 19-year-old girl who had gone missing from Malayattoor was found under mysterious circumstances in an isolated plot on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Chithrapriya, a resident of Mundangamattom. She had been missing since Saturday, prompting a search operation by the police and local residents.
During the search, her body was found in a deserted property in Sebiyoor. Police have launched a probe to ascertain the cause of death and the circumstances that led to her disappearance.
Officials told Mathrubhumi that one person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Police suspect the girl was murdered, noting that her body bore multiple injury marks consistent with an attack using sharp objects.
The body has been shifted to Kalamassery Medical College following inquest procedures. A post-mortem examination will be conducted on Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
