
Thiruvananthapuram: The bodies of Varkala house fire victims were cremated at the residence of the eldest son in the family. Five members of a family, including a 8-month-old baby, suffocated to death after their two-storied house in Varkala caught fire at midnight.
The incident happened around 2 am on Tuesday. The mortal remains of the family members were taken to the eldest son Rahul’s house on Saturday morning. The remains were kept there for public homage for two hours. Abhirami and her son Rayan’s bodies were kept for homage at her house in Vakkom before they were taken to Rahul’s house.

The deceased include Prathapan (64), his wife Sherly (53), younger son Ahil (25), elder son’s wife Abhirami (24) and eight-month-old boy Rayan. The sole survivor Nihul was hospitalised and is undergoing treatment in the Intensive care unit.
