
Beypore: The fourth season of the Beypore International Water Fest is set to begin on January 4, bringing an array of exciting events and attractions. The two-day festival will feature a spectacular drone show, a kite festival, and various water sports competitions, including white water kayaking, sit-on-top kayaking, bamboo rafting, sailing regattas, sea kayak races, country boat races, angling, and wing foiling. Musical performances will add to the festive atmosphere.
The water fest is organised by the state tourism department in collaboration with the district administration and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC). To ensure safety and security, 750 police personnel, including Assistant Commissioners and Inspectors from Kasaragod to Thrissur, have been deployed.
Vehicle parking facilities
Due to anticipated large crowds, vehicles will not be permitted in the Marina Beach area. Dedicated parking lots have been arranged at various locations:
- Corporation Mini Stadium for visitors arriving via B.C. Road
- Beypore GVHS School Ground for those coming from Kozhikode Vattakinar
- Silk and Kovilakam lands near the port for vehicles reaching Beypore Angadi
- Kallingal Ground for arrivals via Payyanakkal O.M. Road
75 specially designated autorickshaws with stickers will shuttle visitors from main parking areas to the Marina shore. Additional parking has been arranged at the Chaliyam Forest Timber Depot, and extra services will operate on the Beypore-Chaliyam Jankar route.
Medical facilities
A round-the-clock medical clinic will function near Beypore Marina Shore on both festival days, staffed by experienced doctors and nurses. Four ambulances will be stationed at Beypore shore, with three more at Chaliyam.
Air Force air show training display
The skies over Beypore were filled with awe as the Air Force showcased an impressive training display. Three helicopters from the Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram participated in the event.
On Friday, the Great Sarang helicopter unit from the 43 Wing Air Force, based in Sulur, Coimbatore, will conduct training displays over Beypore Marina Beach at 11 am and 3 pm. The main Air Force air show is scheduled to take place at 3.30 pm.
International kite festival
As part of the water fest, the International Kite Festival, hosted by Kerala Tourism and DTPC in partnership with the One India Kite Team, will be held at Beypore Beach on January 4 and 5, from 2 pm to 7 pm. Competitions are divided into six categories:
- Indian traditional train kites
- Modern kites with special shapes
- Pilot kites
- Sports kites
- Round kites
- LED kites
Participants are invited to capture and share reels and videos of the festival on social media. The best video will win a gold coin. The first 100 people to register for the competition can participate.
