A baby elephant has gone viral on social media after it was spotted on the Thirunelli-Mananthavady road on Friday. What would usually be a nerve-wracking encounter turned into a charming spectacle for travellers. The sight of this young elephant prompted many to take photographs and videos, bringing smiles to those passing.

The baby elephant, which looked like it's three months old, was first seen near the Thetturoad Junction on Thursday morning around 7 a.m. This is where the road splits toward Thirunelli and Tholpetty. As the elephant wandered onto the road, the increasing traffic caused it to become agitated, running back and forth and occasionally blocking vehicles. It also playfully rubbed against passing KSRTC buses and other vehicles, even chasing a few cars.

While some found the baby elephant's act amusing, others were concerned about its well-being. It remains unclear whether the young elephant had been separated from its herd or abandoned. As it continued to roam the road, traffic came to a halt as drivers waited for it to settle down.

Forest rangers from the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary quickly responded and began searching for the elephant's mother, but they were unable to locate it. The baby elephant is now being closely monitored by the forest authorities, who have stationed it nearby to ensure its safety and well-being.
