Kannur: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated the recent Youth Congress protests in Kannur were driven by desperation from witnessing the public support for Nava Kerala Sadas. 

Last day, DYFI, CPM activists allegedly manhandled Youth Congress workers who protested by waving black flag at the bus carrying the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers in Kannur. 

Following this, CPM leaders, including the party's state secretary, criticized Youth Congress for the action and refused to condemn the action of its workers. 

Responding to the incident, Vijayan lauded DYFI workers for their efforts to rescue the protestors who leaped in front of the bus carrying him and cabinet ministers. He referred to it as an exemplary act.

"A large section of the public is attending the Nava Kerala Sadas. The frustration at seeing its success leads to these reckless protests. Such demonstrations are not appropriate for a democratic system," Vijayan said. He further urged protesters to refrain from such actions. 

"We don't oppose democratic protests against government action. But what happens if you jump in front of a moving vehicle with a black flag? It's not protest, it's aggression. An accident involving such an act would cause all kinds of publicity. The intention behind it is to change the normalcy," he said.
