Kochi: Two days after the SFI leader was admitted to hospital with stab wounds following violent clashes at Maharaja's College, an order was issued to transfer principal Dr. V.S. Joy to Sree Neelakanta Govt Sanskrit College in Pattambi.
Maharaja's College was shut down on Thursday after SFI college unit secretary P.A. Abdul Nazar (21), a third-year BA History student, was stabbed by a group of students allegedly belonging to Fraternity Movement and the Kerala Students Union (KSU) on Wednesday night. Nazar suffered grave injuries to his stomach, hands and legs.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of the tension that had been building on the college campus for the past month following the union election. On Monday evening, a clash broke out between SFI-KSU activists in the college premises. Three KSU workers and an SFI member suffered injuries in the incident.
A faculty member from the college's Arabic Department later filed a complaint with the principal, demanding that action be taken on the situation. However, the same faculty came under attack from a student, allegedly belonging to the Fraternity Movement, on Wednesday morning. SFI later protested against the attack on faculty.
