Kottakkal: Police have registered case against 4 persons on a complaint regarding an attack on BJP National Vice-President AP Abdullakutty.

The driver of the truck that hit Abdullakutty’s car, Chattiparamba native Suhail, (29), and 3 others have been booked by the Kadambuzha police.

Abdullakutty's car was hit by a truck near Randathani in Malappuram on Thursday night while he was on his way to Kannur from Thiruvananthapuram. Abdullakutty alleged that he was verbally abused by a group of people at a tea shop in Veliancode and his car was later hit near Randathani by a truck at 10 pm.

However, the BJP leader did not sustain any injury in the accident.

An accident case was lodged at Kadampuzha station and a case for verbal abuse was filed in Ponnani police station. District police chief U Abdulkareem said that investigation is underway and it will be proved whether these two incidents are connected.

A complaint was filed by Yuva Morcha activist Anurag, who was accompanying Abdullakutty, alleging a gang threatened them on the tea shop premises and stones were pelted at the vehicle.

However, the tea shop employees said that no scuffle took place here and that they were unaware of any such incident. BJP workers staged protests in Ponnani and Tirur against the alleged attack.
