Vijayakumar Menon
Vadakkencherry: Noted art critic Professor Vijayakumar Menon passed away at the age of 76 here on Tuesday. He was also popular as a scholar of fine arts, writer, and orator.
He breathed his last when he reached at a private hospital to undergo dialysis on Tuesday.
He was an inmate of Jnana Ashram in Vyasagiri and Vyasa Tapovanam for the past 33 years.
Vijayakumar Menon was born as the son of Karthyayani Amma and Ananthan Pillai in Chettakkal Madom house at Elamakkara. After pursuing graduation at Kalady Sree Sankara College, he joined FACT in 1966. He resigned from FACT after 18 years of service and completed his post-graduation in Art History from MS University in Baroda.
Later, he worked at Mysore College of Visual Arts, RLV College in Tripunithura, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Fine Arts College in Thrissur, and Guruvayur Institute of Mural paintings.
His mortal remains will be kept at Lalitha Kala Academy in Thrissur for public homage on Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm. Later, the body will be donated to Amala Medical College.
