Thiruvananthapuram: The police have registered yet another case against Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil. The incident pertaining to the new case happened on Wednesday night when Rahul was released on bail. The young leader was given a grand welcome as he came out of the Poojapura jail. The latest case is registered against 12 YC workers including Rahul. He is the second accused in the case with the prime accused being Nemom Sajeer, who is the president of the Youth Congress in Thiruvananthapuram district.         

The FIR has been registered for disrupting the traffic, disturbing peace, trying to create unrest through provocation, destroying the flex boards, involvement in other unlawful activities ignoring the orders issued by the police. An additional case has been booked against another 200 individuals who were part of the 'grand welcome'.    

Rahul had come out of the Poojapura jail around 9:15 PM on Wednesday night. Leaders including Youth Congress national president BV Srinivas, Abin Varkey (VP, Kerala YC), and Shafi Parambil MLA had arrived in front of the jail to welcome Rahul. The young leader who had spent 9 days in jail was showered with flowers as he stepped out of the jail. There were fireworks in the background as well.

It should be noted that Cantonment police had booked three cases against Rahul for his party’s secretariat march last year. A case has been registered against him by the Museum police as well, in connection with another march towards the DGP office.
