Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University Registrar Dr K S Anilkumar arrived at the university headquarters on Thursday morning, defying the Interim Vice-Chancellor’s order amid an intensifying administrative conflict. Despite a directive from Interim Vice-Chancellor Dr Ciza Thomas barring his entry, Anilkumar walked into the campus around 11 a.m., asserting that he would act according to legal procedures and court verdicts.

Speaking to the media, Anilkumar said, “Let the law take its course. We will proceed based on the court's verdict.” He maintained that his suspension had been revoked by the university syndicate, the body that had originally appointed him, and therefore, no legal obstacle existed for him to continue in his post.

Dr Ciza Thomas had issued a notice stating that Anilkumar’s presence in office was unlawful as he remains under suspension. She also instructed security personnel to prevent his entry, but they did not enforce the order.

Meanwhile, Mini Kappan, who has been given temporary charge as Registrar by Thomas, is yet to assume her new role. She remains within the university premises, and tensions are rising amid speculation about how the situation will unfold if she attempts to take charge. If she officially assumes the role and directs Anilkumar to vacate the office, the university’s Security Officer will be responsible for enforcing her order.

In anticipation of potential unrest, Dr Ciza Thomas has already requested police protection from the DGP. If a conflict arises, the police are expected to intervene in support of Mini Kappan.

Adding to the turmoil, several university syndicate members have assembled inside the campus to support Anilkumar. Both inside and outside the campus, AISF and DYFI are staging demonstrations.
