Kochi: The Kerala High Court took a sharp swipe at the recurring disputes within the actors' association, AMMA, critically questioning whether a dedicated special court would have to be set up solely to handle cases involving the organisation.

Remarking on the court's time, the High Court asked whether judiciary hours were meant to resolve such internal squabbles when countless issues affecting the general public remained pending. The sharp observations were made while hearing a petition filed by actress Lakshmi Priya seeking the quashing of a First Information Report (FIR) registered against her.

The High Court issued a notice to the state government on Lami Priya's petition and adjourned the matter to be considered after three weeks. In her petition, Lakshmi Priya requested the court to quash the police case registered against her following judicial directions.

The Palarivattom Police recently registered a case against Lakshmi Priya following a complaint alleging defamation and harassment via social media.

The police action originates from a private complaint lodged by actress Ansiba. She approached the police alleging that Lakshmi Priya engaged in personal character assassination and made remarks insulting to womanhood. When the police initially failed to register a case, Ansiba approached the Magistrate Court and subsequently moved the High Court.

The High Court then directed the lower court to re-examine the complaint. The personal feud between Ansiba and Lakshmi Priya came to light amidst broader ongoing squabbles within the actors' body, AMMA.
