SDPI Kerala state secretary KS Shan hacked to death


Mannancherry (Alappuzha)/Kochi: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) state secretary K S Shan was hacked to death on Saturday night here.

SDPI accused RSS of the attack.

Shan was attacked near Mannancheri school junction by a group of four people who approached him in a car. He was mowed down by the gang and hacked. The incident took place at around 7 pm. He was first taken to private hospitals in Mannancherry and Alappuzha before shifting to Ernakulam Medical Trust, where his death was confirmed at 12.45 am.

Shan was on his way to his rented house at Ponnad. The attackers are believed to have taken the car for rent from Ponnad. Police sources said that the vehicle number is fake.

District police chief G Jayadev is camping at Mannancherry to oversee the probe. The police have retrieved CCTV visuals of the attack.

Police said there were 40 wounds on Shan's body. The inquest procedures are over. The body will be brought to Alappuzha soon.
