Alappuzha: The District Collector has declared a local holiday on Monday, November 3, for all government offices and educational institutions in Mavelikkara and Chengannur taluks of Alappuzha district in connection with the Parumala Church Perunnal in neighbouring Pathanamthitta district.

The order clarified that the holiday will not apply to public examinations already scheduled for the day.

Earlier, a similar local holiday had been declared in the Thiruvalla taluk of Pathanamthitta district on November 3, for the same occasion. The Pathanamthitta District Collector also specified that the exemption would not extend to pre-scheduled examinations.
