Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala DGP Dr. Shaik Darvesh Saheb has recommended ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, despite ongoing controversies surrounding him.
Earlier, a proposal to award the medal to Ajith Kumar was rejected by the central government, reportedly based on intelligence reports.
Ajith Kumar has been at the center of criticism following several controversies last year, including allegations related to disrupting the Thrissur Pooram festival and claims made by former Nilambur MLA PV Anvar. Despite these ongoing issues, the DGP has submitted a new recommendation for the medal. Once the Chief Minister reviews the proposal, it will be sent to the central government for further consideration.
A few days ago, the DGP had recommended that action be taken against Ajith Kumar in connection with a matter involving ADGP P Vijayan. However, the state government has not taken further steps on that matter.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Ajith Kumar is also under consideration for the post of DGP. The final decision on the appointment will be made by the state government.
