Thiruvananthapuram: AI-driven surveillance cameras identified 38,520 traffic rule violations on Monday.
Kollam recorded the highest number of cases (4,778) and the lowest number was registered in Malappuram (545). The aforementioned figure is of violations detected from 8 am to 8 pm.
District-wise report: Thiruvananthapuram (4362), Pathanamthitta (1177), Kollam (4778), Alappuzha (1288), Kottayam (2194), Idukki (1483), Ernakulam (1889), Thrissur (3995), Palakkad (1007), Kozhikode (1550), Wayanad (1146), Kannur (2437) and Kasaragod (1040).
Transport Minister Antony Raju said that traffic violations have reduced significantly on the first day of the camera operation.
"Last April, violations had fallen from 4.5 lakh cases to 2.8 lakhs cases on the day of the official inauguration of AI cameras. On Monday, this figure has further reduced to 1.93 lakhs," the minister added.
