Thrissur: A union worker accused of embezzling ₹10.4 lakh from his workplace and harassing female students has been transferred to a location of his choice, sparking controversy at the Kerala Agricultural University.

Although an investigation confirmed the allegations, no criminal action was taken. The accused was transferred first to the Ambalavayal centre in Wayanad and later to the Mannuthi centre, despite complaints from female students about harassment.

A group of female students had filed a written complaint, and the Internal Grievance Redressal Cell was collecting evidence. The cell’s report confirmed that the transfer to Mannuthi occurred on July 10.

Critics argue that criminal proceedings should have been initiated following the investigation, with a complaint lodged with the police. Instead, the accused was allowed to choose his transfer location.

Following public criticism, the university registrar explained that the transfer was made based on the Grievance Redressal Cell report and that a show-cause notice had been issued on July 11. The registrar added that disciplinary action would follow if a reply was received. However, more than a month later, no further action has been taken.
