Prime Minister Modi to visit Thiruvananthapuram on January 23; BJP plans development roadmap to boost political momentum.

Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Thiruvananthapuram on January 23, following the BJP’s takeover of the city corporation. During the visit, he will unveil a detailed development blueprint aimed at transforming the corporation’s infrastructure, party sources said.
The plan, according to BJP sources, will outline measures to modernise and enhance the capital’s urban landscape. The event is expected to take place at either the Central Stadium or Putharikandam Maidanam.
BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar had earlier pledged that Modi would visit within 45 days of the party assuming municipal control. The Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit fulfils this promise and forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the BJP’s presence in Kerala ahead of the Assembly elections.
Political significance of the visit
Analysts note that Modi’s visit is more than ceremonial. It represents a strategic effort to consolidate the BJP’s authority in the capital, a position the party hopes to leverage during the upcoming state polls. By emphasising its governance achievements in Thiruvananthapuram, the BJP aims to maintain momentum and fortify its standing against the LDF and UDF.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Thiruvananthapuram last week, outlining the party’s roadmap for Kerala. BJP is focusing on 35 Assembly constituencies and intends to raise its vote share to approximately 25%, ensuring a strong bargaining position in the state post-elections.
Modi’s visit is expected to energise the party’s base while signalling its commitment to development in the capital region.
