Alappuzha: Kerala State Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (KSDP) is set to introduce cost-effective medicines to the public market. The initiative aims to make essential drugs more accessible at discounted prices. Minister P. Rajeev will officially inaugurate the new sales outlet, named Medimart, on April 8 at the company premises near the national highway.

Customers can expect discounts ranging from 10% to 90% on various medicines. According to KSDP Chairman C.B. Chandrababu, retail sales will soon expand to multiple locations across the state.

Currently, KSDP manufactures 92 types of medicines, all of which will be supplied to retail outlets. Additionally, drugs from other pharmaceutical companies will also be available at reduced prices.

Previously, KSDP supplied medicines exclusively to government hospitals. With this expansion into the public market, the initiative is expected to provide much-needed relief to patients.

In the future, medicines for cancer and kidney disease will also be offered at lower prices. Meanwhile, work is underway on the Oncology Park, which will focus on the production of cancer treatment drugs.

The launch event is scheduled for 10 am, with MLA P.P. Chitharanjan presiding. K.C. Venugopal MP will be the chief guest, as confirmed by Managing Director E.A. Subramanian.
