Two Kerala stations upgraded under Adarsh scheme; 35 others undergoing redevelopment under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

New Delhi: The Adarsh Station Scheme is moving ahead swiftly in Kerala, with Phase-I works completed at Chirayinkeezh and Vadakara stations and 35 more identified for development across the state, the government informed Parliament on Friday.
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that these projects are identified for development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
List of 35 stations identified for development
The 35 railway stations identified are as follows: Alappuzha, Angadippuram, Angamali for Kaladi, Chalakudi, Changanassery, Chengannur, Chirayinkeezh, Ernakulam, Ernakulam Town, Ettumanur, Ferok, Guruvayur, Kannur, Kasargod, Kayankulam Jn, Kollam Jn, Kozhikode, Kuttippuram, Mavelikara, Neyyattinkara, Nilambur Road, Ottappalam, Parappanangadi, Payyanur, Punalur, Shoranur Jn., Thalassery, Thiruvananthapuram Central, Thrisur, Tirur, Tiruvalla, Tripunithura, Vadakara, Varkala Sivagiri, and Wadakancheri.
Upgrades completed at various stations
At Chalakudi station, the work of improvement of the station building concourse and booking office, circulating area, platform shelter, platform surfacing, waiting hall, coach indication boards, Divyangjan facilities of the public announcement system, signages, standard ramps, and low-height ticket booth has been completed. Work of improvement to the station building, toilets, Divyangjan facilities of toilets and water booths has been taken up.
At Changanacheri station, the work of improvement of the station building, improvement of the circulating area, improvement of the station approach road, platform surfacing, coach indication boards, and Divyangjan facilities of parking, toilet, water booths, and standard ramps have been completed. The work of the public announcement system, signage and lighting has been taken up.
At Ettumanur station, the work of improvement of platform shelter, improvement of platform surfacing, improvement of toilets, concourse, VIP lounge, parking area, and coach indication boards has been completed. Work on the public announcement system, water booths, and the improvement of the portico has been taken up.
At Ferok station, the work of improvement of the station building, improvement of the existing Foot Over Bridge, a new lift, a new platform shelter, improvement to platform surfacing, and a new waiting hall have been completed. Work on improving toilets, circulating area, parking area, signages and ramps has been taken up.
At Kollam station, the work of the service building, substation, multi-level car parking and structural work of the parcel building and south terminal segment I (Block A & B) has been completed. The work of structural work of the south terminal segment I (Block C), south terminal segment II, Foot Over Bridge, air concourse and platform shelter works has been taken up.
₹1,122 crore allocated to Kerala for station upgrades
Kerala, under the Southern Railway zone, has been allocated ₹1,122 crore under Plan Head-53 ‘Customer Amenities’ for 2025–26 for the development and maintenance of stations.
