Thiruvananthapuram: The recurring controversies surrounding SFI leaders, continue to be a headache for the CPM leadership in the state. While the party managed to save its face in the PSC controversy that erupted in the first term of the Pinarayi government, the newly surfaced controversies against its student leaders, during their second term in office, is giving sleepless nights to CPM leaders.
It should be noted that the party narrowly escaped disgrace, after the SFI brigade had ransacked former MP Rahul Gandhi’s office in Wayanad in 2022. Disciplinary actions were taken against several SFI activists in the incident. The Kattakada college controversy is another incident that put CPM in a spot .
Party looks clueless, when it comes to dealing with its revolutionary young wing.
The Arsho marklist controversy and the forgery case against K Vidya nearly proved the last nail in the coffin for the controversy-hit federation of young leaders.
Amidst the mayhem, CPM state secretariat has decided to closely monitor errands of its student brigade, and has expressed its eagerness to restore discipline in SFI.
However, the controversies are piling up each passing day. The case registered against news anchor for reporting marklist controversy at Maharaja's college, document forgery case at Kayamkulam MSM college involving SFI leader Nikhil Thomas, are the latest events that seems to have dragged SFI back into the ring of fire.
