Reports suggest that the CPM is considering fielding him either in Tanur or Tirur, and Randathani has reportedly expressed willingness

Malappuram: Senior leader and former MLA Abdurahiman Randathani, who had raised criticism against the Muslim League’s candidate list, is likely to become an LDF candidate. Reports suggest that the CPM is considering fielding him either in Tanur or Tirur, and Randathani has reportedly expressed willingness.
In Tanur, minister and sitting MLA V Abdurahiman, who was announced as a CPM-backed independent candidate, has not yet begun campaigning. In Tirur too, the CPM has not declared a candidate. V Abdurahiman had earlier shown interest in shifting to Tirur. In this context, the CPM is considering Randathani. If V Abdurahiman moves to Tirur, Randathani may be fielded in Tanur. There are also reports that CPM is in talks with Muthukkoya Thangal of the League, who was expecting the Tanur seat.
Earlier, Randathani had come out against the League’s decision to field PMA Sameer in Tirurangadi. CPI sources said he had also expressed interest in contesting there as a Left candidate. However, CPI leaders clarified to Mathrubhumi.com that their candidate Ajith Koladi will remain in Tirurangadi.
Following this, CPM leaders reportedly reached out to Randathani. In Tanur, MSF state president PK Navas is the League candidate. Randathani, who has served twice as MLA from Tanur, had lost to V Abdurahiman in 2016. In the last Assembly election, he contested from Punalur as a League candidate.
Randathani’s criticism against the League came through a Facebook post, where he said that questioning the criteria behind selecting candidates for vested interests—while sidelining deserving party workers and using innocent community figures—should not be seen as indiscipline.
