Ponnani: A major robbery took place at a house in Ponnani, Malappuram. A locked house was literally broken open and 350 sovereigns of gold stolen. The ornaments were apparently kept in a locker of the house.

The theft happened at the house of Rajesh which is located close to the Ponnani Aiswarya theatre. He had left for Dubai along with family members two weeks ago.

A worker who had come to clean the house on Saturday evening found the grill on the backside of the house broken open. Entering the room, she also found the almirah open. The worker immediately informed the house owner about the incident.

As per what is told to police, 350 sovereigns of gold have reportedly gone missing. A team led by Malappuram SP is conducting the probe.

There were CCTVs installed in the house, but even the DVR has been stolen. Rajesh is flying back after hearing about the incident.
