Thrissur: An Additional Session Court here on Friday acquitted 13 BJP-RSS activists accused in the murder of CPM leader K.U. Biju in Kodungallur.
The bench of Judge KV Rajneesh was unconvinced by the witness statements and concluded that the evidence was insufficient to condemn the accused. 14 persons were initially charged in the case, including a minor whose trial is taking place in a Juvenile court.
Biju succumbed to injuries at a hospital after facing an attack from a gang on June 30, 2008.
According to the prosecution, RSS-BJP workers attacked Biju while he was riding a bicycle. The gang brutally attacked him using iron rods, causing grave injuries to his head and body.
