Cherai (Kochi): Age is just a number for Upendran Achari, a 105-year-old yoga practitioner who continues to inspire with over six-and-a-half decades of dedicated practice. Achari began his yogic journey at the age of 35.
He was trained under the guidance of Paravuthara Chandran Aashan, who was a renowned marma therapy expert and a disciple of the legendary Thalassery Bhaskara Gurukkal. With a deep-rooted foundation in traditional practices, Achari has personally trained over a thousand students in yoga over the years.
Even today, Upendran Achari continues to lead yoga training sessions, with two active yoga centres functioning under his supervision in the Cherai region. A family man, he lives in Cherai with his wife and four children. Adding to his achievements, Achari is also the author of the book ‘Yoga – Jeevitha Darshanam’
